Grant, FL – April 19th, 2025 – Star brite and Project SeaSafe are proud to announce Captain Brandon McGraw of Space Coast Fishing Charters as the 2025 Captain of the Year, recognizing his unwavering commitment to clean water, conservation, and community leadership on Florida’s Space Coast.

Do Gooder of the year Program
Now in its fifth year, the Captain of the Year award honors working captains who not only guide with integrity but go above and beyond to protect the waters they fish. Captain McGraw was chosen for his boots-on-the-ground involvement in habitat restoration, his consistent support of local conservation efforts, and the example he sets for future generations of anglers.
More than just a fishing Guide
Throughout the past year, Captain McGraw has helped clean waterways, plant mangroves, release clams into the Indian River Lagoon, educate public about sustainability, and show up whenever and wherever the water needed him. He’s not just catching fish—he’s helping save the places we all fish.
“Brandon doesn’t just run charters—he leads by example,” said Cory Redwine, Conservation Director for Star brite and Project SeaSafe. “He shows his clients what it means to respect the resource, and that kind of everyday conservation is what this award is all about.”
The award was presented during the 2025 Clean Water Collective event hosted by Project SeaSafe and Star brite at the Old Fish House in Grant, FL.
Captain Brandon McGraw 2025
Every year, we honor one local charter captain who lives the SeaSafe mission: protect the waters we fish, teach respect for the resource, and put in the work—not just the words.
This year, that honor goes to Captain Brandon McGraw of Space Coast Fishing Charters.
Whether he’s guiding clients on the Banana River or showing up to plant mangroves and release clams, Captain Brandon does more than his job—he does the right thing. He’s one of those rare watermen who knows that conservation isn’t a trend—it’s a lifestyle. From running clean boats to educating clients about our fragile estuary, he’s helping ensure there’s a future for our fishery.
We’re proud to call him our 2025 Project SeaSafe Captain of the Year, and even prouder to work alongside captains like him.

How Team Do Gooder Was Born
A few years ago, Cory Redwine was unexpectedly called on stage at a conservation event. Not great with crowds and caught off guard, she fumbled her words and simply said, “We just need to… do gooder.”
The crowd went wild. They chanted it. Laughed. And just like that, the phrase stuck.
What started as a tongue-tied moment became a rallying cry for conservation. Today, Team Do Gooder is a badge of honor—for captains, kids, scientists, and anyone who shows up, gets dirty, and tries to do better than good for the environment. Backed by Star brite, it’s a way to recognize those who lead with action, not ego.
Because doing gooder means you tried. You cared. You showed up.
