100,000 Redfish to be released on the east coast

In CCA news – To ensure healthy East Coast populations, phase one of the Release the East initiative pledges to raise and release 100,000 hatchery-reared juvenile redfish from the Duke Energy Mariculture Center. Not only does this help provide for a balanced and vigorous ecosystem, it also safeguards that sportfishing in the Indian River Lagoon will be enjoyed for decades to come.

“Redfish are an essential species to our state and we must work together to conserve this fishery for the next generation,” CCA Florida Executive Director Brian Gorski said. “We’re honored to have Mud Hole Custom Tackle join forces on the Release the East initiative. In partnership with Duke Energy, our efforts will support the health and sustainability of one of Florida’s most iconic fisheries.”
